Gertie Myrtle Walters
October 11, 1930 – December 26, 2020
Mrs. Gertie Myrtle Walters, age 90 of China Grove, left for her heavenly home on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born October 11, 1930 in Scotland County, Gertie was the daughter of the late Benny Walters and Viola Levener Walters. Her husband of 25 years, Carl Bruce Carter and sons, DeMarco, Bill and Roger Carter and her sister, Virginia Misenheimer all preceded her in death. Gertie was a longtime member of Chapel Street Baptist Church in Landis.
Gertie spent her career as a homemaker caring for her family, a job she truly loved and took a tremendous amount of pride in. She was an excellent cook who prepared wonderful family meals and she was blessed with the gift of sewing where she made her daughters clothing when they were younger. Her true love was her love for her Lord and Savior and then for her family. They were her world and she loved spending her time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Carl Carter, Junior Carter, Jimmie Carter (Sandy), Ronnie Carter (Toy), Herbie Carter (Pam) and her daughters, Jeanie Carter Walters and Barbara C. Blackwelder. She also leaves behind five generations of grands along with her brothers, Woodrow (Bill) Walters and Bo Walters.
Visitation for Gertie will be on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 11:00 - 12:00pm at Chapel Street Baptist Church in Landis. Her Funeral Service will follow at 12:00pm at the church, officiated by Pastor Brad Jenkins. Committal service will immediately follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. Grandma I need you! I need you to show me how to grieve you, you taught me everything but how do I miss you, how do I not take for granted that you're going to answer everytime I call? Why does losing you have to be the hardest lesson in life not to let a day go by and tell the ppl I love how I feel? Grandma I'm not going to say all the I wish I had done things differently bc I wouldn't have gotten the lesson you being the great teacher you are. You don't even realize how much I love you. You always saw the granddaughter that you loved instead of the monster that alot of ppl see in me. Thank you for loving me Grandma thank you for letting me share in your life thank you for always answering me when you didn't have to thank you for looking at me and letting me see love in your eyes I'm going to miss that most for me that is rare. I'll be looking for you every day and in every lil thing. I'll know it's you bc you'll shine the brightest. I love you MORE Grandma

You ask me once how I see GOD in you. All my life you answer every question with God said. You showed forgiveness even to those of were not worthy of it. You faced life knowing God's will was not always your own.Everyday for you was a blessing and a gift from God. You touched the lives of everyone you came in contact with and you always shared your faith and love of God. Because of you including myself found the love of God and his many blessing. You leave a legacy behind that I know you are proud of .As we are all proud to be part of you. Your memory will live on through each of us. I will see you again one day till then. I love you always.

I'm glad I had the privilege of knowing such a great woman. I took care of her for years and she was a client but very quickly became family to me. We would sit and talk and make cookies which was our favorite thing to do. She was my 1st client and also my favorite. She has and always will have a special place in my heart. She was just as special to me as I was her. Now she is in a place she couldn't wait to be and I know she's smiling down still loving every one of us. No one else like her! I love you sweet angel and miss you! π π

I love you more than you will ever know. You have been such a great inspiration in my life. You showed me how to turn the other cheek and love others when I really did not want to even acknowledge them. You helped me be the person I have become today...because of you I cannot express the joy you brought ..I love you most and everyday will be filled with hurt sorrow for me but you truly earned your wings and give Alisha, Kent ,Marco, Bill, and grandpa a big ole hug because I can't . I love you Grandma too the moon.
