Mrs. Mary Broadway Daugherty, age 77 of China Grove, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at her home. Born January 20, 1944 in Davie County, she was the daughter of the late Bud and Ruby Gales Broadway. Her eight brothers and sisters and an infant son, Jimmy Darryl Barney, also preceded Mary in death. She was a longtime member of Lutheran Chapel Church, where over the years, she served in many capacities.

Mary retired from Hoechst Celanese after many years of service. Once retired, she spent her time continuing to serve others as she had always done. She had a servant’s heart and loved helping others. Mary loved serving her community by delivering Meals on Wheels and being active at her church. She would collect toys and other items for her birthday and other holidays to donate to her favorite West Virginia Mission. This was just one of the many things she did for others. Mary was very well known for excellent cooking skills; especially her homemade biscuits, chicken and dumplings and her famous fried apple pies. She loved gardening and canning her own vegetables to serve at her favorite family gatherings. Family was everything to Mary…

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 18 years, Jerry of the home; her three children, Richard Spillman (Michele), Jimmie Sue Collett (Pernell) and Darryl Barney (Lisa). She also leaves behind her five grandchildren, Jennifer Hunsucker (B.J.), Laura Spillman (Dakota), Michael Spillman (Kristina), Sarah Collett and Courtney Barney.

Visitation for Mary will be Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 2:00 – 3:00pm at Lutheran Chapel Church. Funeral service will follow at 3:00pm officiated by Pastor John Tucker. Committal service will be immediately after at the Lutheran Chapel Church Cemetery. The family has requested you kindly remember Mary with memorials in her honor to Lutheran Chapel Church, 135 Eudy Road, China Grove, NC 28023. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.advantagelandis.com. Advantage-Landis and Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Daugherty.
