Irene moved to Port Alberni from her home town of Otterburne Man. where she met and married her husband Don in Jan.1948. They moved to Ocean Falls B.C. for a few years and then on to Vancouver. In 1957 they bought their first home in Richmond B.C. Irene was a stay at home mom who took pride in keeping her home beautiful both indoors & out and filled her free time with knitting, crocheting and embroidering . Once their children moved out Irene went to work in the housekeeping department at the Richmond Inn until she retired. In 1990 they moved to Surrey B.C. where they built their dream home. Irene loved to travel, her and Don went on many adventures all around the world and shared the stories with friends and family. Irene was very talented with her hands, it seemed she always had a craft on the go and she enjoyed sharing her passions with her grandchildren; which include ceramics, painting and making a wide variety of household novelties. Many of her friends and family were lucky enough to receive a handmade gift from her. As time went on it seemed Irene always wanted to learn a new skill, she took piano lessons and enjoyed using her computer to keep in contact with friends and family around the world. Irene loved Don deeply and though she is terribly missed by all who knew her we have peace in knowing that they have been reunited.

I have wonderful memories of spending summer weeks and Christmas at Auntie and Uncle's when I was a kid. She was always knitting or crocheting or doing something creative. I looked forward to the visits every year. Her memory lives on with me.
