She is survived by daughters, Paula Pasche of Sylvan Lake and Marilee Pasche-Cousins; and her son-in-law, Chuck Cousins of Land O' Lakes, Fla. She was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 57 years. She missed him every day since his death nearly 10 years ago.
A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church in Lansing, Mich. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m., with Mass at 10:30 a.m. Her remains will be buried at St. Joseph Cemetery next to Bob.
A woman of strong faith, her family meant everything to her. She showered family and friends throughout the years with hand-written notes and cards. She loved to bake - with specialties including the best chocolate chip cookies (she doubled the amount of chips) and carrot cake from scratch.
When her daughters were young, she and Bob started traveling with a camper trailer. Trips were enjoyed from coast to coast in the U.S. and Canada. Exploring Alaska — including a trip to the Arctic Circle — was their biggest adventure.
Betty was born in Felch in the Upper Peninsula to the late Helen and Olaf Backlund, but she grew up in Lansing. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. She and Bob lived a good retirement life in Florida, spending summers in Dimondale.
