Sharon Kay Rozell (nee Falk) was called home by God on January 8, 2024. She was born July 27, 1938 in Manistee, MI to Leonard and Esther (Anderson) Falk. She is survived by her eight children: Steven Rozell; David Rozell; Kari Rozell-Flowers; Amy (Chuck) Shell; Jim Rozell; Lisa (Kevin) Eaton; Dana (Charlie) Ash; Sara Rozell; and her 14 grandchildren. Her husband of 55 years, Fred Rozell, and sister, Judy (Falk) Snyder, preceded her in her homecoming.
She spent her childhood in Manistee, graduating from Manistee High School in 1956. She moved to Lansing to become an LPN at Sparrow Hospital. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Fred Rozell in Manistee. They lived, worked, and raised their children in Lansing. After making the decision to stay home with her children, she began in-home day care. The children she cared for affectionately called her Mama Sharon. She also worked for Community Mental Health, Older Adult Services for more than10 years.
Sharon loved to be connected with others and had many dear friends. She had a kind heart and showed her love through her hugs and actions. Her children’s memories of her include her incredible ability to make 9 lunches for her husband and children every day and having a hot meal on the table every night at 5:30. Her children were dressed and sitting together in a pew every Sunday. She appreciated moments of silliness and joy and encouraged her children to play games, jump in the leaves, and run in the rain. She could beat anyone in Euchre. Her demonstrations of kindness and respect for others was her lasting example for her children, reminding us, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, say nothing at all.” Sharon was a member of Grace Church for over 60 years. She was a dedicated Sarah Circle member and active philanthropist. Her friendships in this group were very important to her. Her willingness to help others, showing her love through acts, and the gift of her time is part of her legacy.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church, 528 N. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., Lansing. There will be visitation at 10am with a service at 11am. Coffee and deserts will follow at the same location. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Grace Lutheran Church.
