For 25 years was a member of Christ New Testament Church in Lynwood, CA, where he served as Treasurer and Deacon. After relocating to Las Vegas, NV he attended Victory Baptist Church and Calvary Chapel in Las Vegas.
Amos attended school in Los Angeles, CA where he graduated from David Starr Jordan High School. Amos enlisted into the United States Army in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1969 due to an injury. He began his career with the United States Postal Service where he worked for over 35 years until his retirement.
Amos is survived by his daughter Bridget Cannon and son Amos Cannon Jr. (Katina), sisters Mary Williams (Tommy), Elnora Barber, Brenda Cannon, and brother Jerry Cannon, granddaughters Vaneisha Cannon and Terrica Hayes, grandsons Paul Bruno and Willie Web and a host of family and dear friends.
Amos made his transition on September 2, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Darlene Cannon, son Vincent Cannon, parents Thomas (Duke) and Carrie (Sis) Cannon, grandmother Laura Williams, grandson Vincent Crawford and sister Bobbie Cannon.
Everyone who knew Amos was aware of his devotion to God. He was a member of his church, very active as a Senior Deacon and was always available to serve in any capacity where help was needed. On Sundays you could always be sure to find him worshipping from early mornings until late evenings. Amos was also an avid sports fan, he couldn’t wait until football season to watch the Rams, basketball season to watch the Lakers, and he was also a die-hard Dodgers fan.
Amos was always a kind and generous person and was always there to help his family. Amos will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
