Obituary of Delmus Dewayne Jeffery
Delmus DeWayne Jeffery was called home early morning August 4, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV. Delmus was born on January 4, 1955, to Dee Allen and Louise Jeffery, in Tyler, TX. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, TX in 1972, where he was a significant contributor in his basketball team. Delmus graduated from UT Austin in 1981, entering on a band scholarship, playing trumpet, French horn, drums, guitar, and other instruments. Delmus pursued a lifelong career in psychology, music, and technology, dedicated to originality, creativity, and resourcefulness. Delmus was a musician, guitarist, keyboardist, vocalist, songwriter, videographer, producer, humanitarian. Lover of nature, plants, animals, corn, and watermelon. Delmus was proud of his mixed Black American/Native American (Apache/Comanche) and familial relation to Johnny Guitar Watson, Lightning Hopkins, and Freddie King. Favorite musicians Delmus would name any day are “Jimi Hendrix, Ernie Isley (Amazing!), Johnny Guitar Watson, Freddie King, Lightnin Hopkins, Willie "Little Beaver" Hale, BB King, David Gilmour, Steve Lukather, Jimmy Vaughan, Stevie Ray and every other damn great guitar player whose name may have been left out!” In recent years, Delmus dedicated his time as a member of the Chiricahua Apache Mimbres Band Nation as Tribal Administrator, Goodwill Ambassador, Council Member, Historical Cultural Preservation Project Director, and Deputy Insurance Commissioner. Delmus was loved by his family and survived by his 3 daughters, Erica McVey, Rebekah Smith, Keena Jeffery, 5 grandchildren, brother Wendall (Doc) Jeffery and numerous cousins. His grandparents, father, beloved mother, Aunt Mildred, and ancestors have welcomed him in spirit. The Jeffery Family will be holding a Celebration of Life near his hometown, on September 3rd. Location will be determined on this and all pages by August 19, 2022. All who loved him are welcome to celebrate his life.
