

John Ray Melton passed away peacefully at his home in Las Vegas, NV on February 27, 2019. John was born in Las Vegas on May 5, 1943, and grew up in Henderson, NV. He is survived by the following family members; wife, Bertha, Daughter, Nayeli and fiancé Cody, along with children Luivan, LiLi, and Logan, Son, Donald and wife Susan, their children, Tom, Christine, Christian, and Llana, Daughter, Cheryl Lynn and her children, Samantha, Alexis, and Nicolas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, sisters, Jean and Sandra, Brothers Jimmy Joe, and Timmy.
John led an eventful life. After serving in the Army, he returned to Las Vegas. He was then a craps dealer for many years. Later in life, he became a taxi driver, where he made many friends along the way. John was loved by so many people, and will be dearly missed. He loved nothing more than to tease people and make them laugh. One of his favorite things to do was to go fishing. He was an avid fisherman and would never pass up an opportunity to go.
John joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on May 28, 2011. He loved it there. He greatly enjoyed all of the kindness that overflowed from within the church.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be on March 16, 2019 at the Sun Valley Chapel, 5100 Sun Valley Drive Las Vegas, NV. The service will start at 11:00 a.m.
