Afterglow

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when my life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways. Of happy times and laughing times and bright sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun. Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

My wife, Kate, and I are deeply saddened by the loss of such a thoughtful and gregarious man. I was always impressed at his ability to see the bright side and spread that optimism to those around him. He was always very giving with his time and knowledge, and lived every day to its fullest.

A quick story to express my appreciation for Jorge:
Before my wife and I were married, Jorge would tell me about Argentina and the pride he took in his home country. He spoke about what a great place it is that he convinced us to go there for our Honeymoon. Not only did he share advice about those places he knew we would like to visit, but by coincidence, he was in Buenos Aires during the same time visiting family. While there, he took the time to show us his home. We saw beautiful architecture, nature, art and food. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life, and I am so glad we were able to share that with him.

I will always remember him this way. Thoughtful, giving, and a pleasure to be with. He will be missed.

I will really miss Jorge. The sweetest man I have ever met! He took me to the museums and sights that he loved in Vegas and Prime Rib at Oscar's.

Gone way too soon. May his memory be for a blessing.

Jorge stayed with us in April, 2002, while he was on a Rotary Exchange Program to Little Rock, Arkansas, from Argentina. Jorge decided to stay in Arkansas, and ultimately became a US citizen. In 2003 we happily entertained him and his sister Ruth, and then his parents in 2004. We considered Jorge a dear, dear friend and he will be sincerely missed.

I met Jorge on a few occasions. His talent and artistic vision will live on through the beautiful buildings that he has designed. My heart felt condolences to his family and friends.
