August 24, 1934 – November 10, 2022
Richard was born in Oregon on August 24, 1934 to Louis Duval and Beatrice (Greenwood) Duval. He
was the eldest of four sons. Richard is survived by his sister, four sons, and many grandchildren
throughout the Western United States.
After serving in the U.S. Navy and fighting in the Korean War, Richard returned to Oregon where he
became a rancher in the Grants Pass, Oregon area.
In 1970 Richard had the opportunity to move to Boulder City, Nevada to work for Singer Pump
Company. He increased his knowledge of mechanical skills during this time that would prove useful a
few years later when he accepted a position as a millwright mechanic at the Titanium Metals facility in
Henderson, Nevada. He was a “wrench-head”, MacGyver type of man that could fix anything with
surrounding materials.
Living in Henderson, he joined a local car club. He refurbished a 1949 Chevy truck that was his pride
and joy and enjoyed going to many classic car shows where he could display her. Richard also enjoyed
camping, riding the three-wheeled ATVs, building a four-seater dune buggy and would spend many
weekends and holidays at Dumont Sand Dunes in California.
His retirement years brought him to St. Johns, Arizona to be closer to his sister, niece, and nephew.
While there, he spent many years involved in S.A.S.S. (Single Action Shooting Society) dressing as a
cowboy much like he did in real life growing up. Richard loved his home where he enjoyed building,
remodeling, and puttering around in the yard.
He lived a full life and was ‘ol school till the end.
Enjoy your I & I dad.
