Born October 11, 1930, to Germaine and John Patten in Superior, Wisconsin, Germaine Nault (known as Geri to many) attended Cathedral High School In Superior, Wisconsin and graduated from the College of St. Scholastica Nursing School in 1952 in Duluth, Minnesota.
Married to David Nault, Sr. in 1952, Germaine began her married life in San Antonio as David served in the Fourth Army Band Headquarters at Ft. Sam Houston.
During their early married life, Germaine worked as a nurse at the Baptist Hospital in downtown San Antonio. Throughout her career, Germaine worked in various health care areas including hospitals, home health and mental health as well as private medicine as Head Nurse at Capital Medical Clinic in Austin, Texas where she retired in 1994.
Germaine was a supportive wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and respected nurse. She raised four children while her husband was traveling as a Baldwin Organ salesperson and concert artist. An attentive mother, Germaine assisted with her daughters’ Girl Scout troop and also served as a nurse for Girl Scout summer camps. She always encouraged her children to engage in as many activities as possible to become well-rounded individuals.
She was a regular member of St. Catherine of Sienna’s Catholic Church and spent numerous Sundays volunteering in the nursery. She also volunteered for many years at Seton Southwest Outpatient Surgery.
Germaine was known by many to be a very kind, thoughtful and caring person. On numerous occasions from various organizations in her career, family members heard, “We just love Geri and she really is respected and treasured here”. Her compassionate and warmhearted personality was a joy for all that she interacted with on a daily basis throughout her life. “Geri” will be missed by all who knew her.
Germaine was predeceased by her parents John and Germaine Patten, and her sister, Mary
Phillips. She is survived and loved by her husband David Nault Sr. and daughters Constance Gray (Ben) and Catherine Woodard as well as her sons, David Nault Jr. (Rusty) and Dennis Nault (Sandi), ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Germaine is also survived by her brothers Jack Patten (Nancy) and Edward Patten.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care that was given to Germaine by Dr.
Kenneth Kroll and Dr. Marianna Varga as well as her caregivers from Home Care Assistance.
Arrangements are being handled by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 1200 S. Bagdad Rd. in Leander, Texas.
