Julia Claire Carlton, 67, of Lenoir passed away Thursday, July 31st, 2014 at Lenoir HealthCare.

Miss Carlton was born in Caldwell County on January 23, 1947 to the late George S. Carlton and Ruby Beach Carlton. Miss Carlton worked for 20 years as a nurse and was a member of Kings Creek Baptist Church. She also enjoyed photography and cats, often combining the two with prize winning results.

In addition to her parents, Miss Carlton is preceded in death by a brother James D. Carlton.

Those left to cherish the memory of Julia Carlton include two nieces, Jo Carlton (John McClurkin) of New Bern, NC and Daphne Taylor (Dennis) of Lynchburg, Virginia; two nephews, Phil Carlton (Maria) of Charlottesville, Virginia and Rob Carlton (Donna) of Evington, Virginia; a sister-in-law Dawn Carlton of Lynchburg, Virginia and numerous other relatives.

The family of Miss Julia Carlton will receive friends at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home on Sunday, August 3rd, 2014 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 4th, 2014 at Kings Creek Baptist Church in Lenoir with Pastor Randy Goode officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery.

The family wishes to give many thanks to the staff of Lenoir HealthCare for all of their care and support.

Julia's Mom was my 7th grade teacher, and her cousin Fred was my late husband. She was really sweet taking care of Fred and others in the Nursing Center while a resident herself.

Julia was my patient at Dr. Graham's office for many years. I was also able to visit with her many times at Lenoir Health Care because I had family members there also. She was a wonderful person
