Raphe Arrowood, 75, of Caldwell County, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at his residence.
He was born March 7, 1943 in Mitchell County to the late Essie Chloe Arrowood.
In 1962, Raphe served three years with the 82nd Airborne. In 1964, he fought in the Dominican Republic uprising. He then reenlisted in 1965 with the 4th Infantry and fought in the Vietnam War for one year. His last duty assigned was as a drill sergeant at Fort Seal Oak.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Rodney Arrowood and Mike Arrowood, both of Lenoir, brother, Jack Arrowood, of Orlando, FL, sister, Gail Emery and husband Bob, of Asheville, NC and grandchildren, Lillian Grace Arrowood and Landon Riley Arrowood, both of Lenoir.
A Graveside Service will be held at a later date.

Ray, as we called him, grew up with my brother and me more as a brother than a neighbor. I can't think of my childhood without him coming to mind. I am deeply saddened by his passing. I love him.
