Auburn- Charlotte Veilleux L'Heureux, 88, passed away on December 1, 2018 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, Maine. Charlotte, the youngest of 10 children of Ernest and Phoebe (Gilbert) Veilleux, was born February 18, 1930 in Ste. Alfred, Canada. She was educated at the Convent of Jesus Marie in Beauceville, Canada and in 1947 graduated from the Convent of Presentation of Mary in Coaticook, Canada. In 1947 Charlotte's family moved from Canada to Lewiston, Maine and eventually settled on Libby Avenue where she lived for the next 71 years. It was on Libby Avenue that she met "the boy next door" Norman L'Heureux and on August 25, 1956 they began their more than 60 years of dedicated marriage. Together they raised two wonderful children, Charles and Louise L'Heureux. She particularly enjoyed many camping trips with her family as well as traveling to Paris, France and to Alaska. Charlotte worked as an Avon Representative for 31 years. She was a devout member of The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, and a member of the St. Anne's Society.
Charlotte leaves behind her son, Charles L'Heureux, sister-in-law Cecile L'Heureux, brother-in-law Paul L'Heureux and his wife Audrey, sister-in-law Rita Castonguay and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Phoebe, her husband Norman, daughter Louise, brother-in-law Louis (Cecile) L'Heureux, her four brothers, Rene (Mathilda) Veilleux, Wilbrod (Juliette) Veilleux, Wallace (Bibiane) Veilleux, Pamphile Veilleux, and five sisters, Carmelle (Leo) Boucher, Jeanne (Remi) Poulin, Jacqueline (Dorilas) Fortin, Yolande (Robert) Bernard, Germaine (Henri) Castonguay.
Visitation will be at the Fortin Group Funeral Home in Lewiston on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, (Lower Chapel) 122 Ash Street, Lewiston, Maine on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. Committal prayers to follow at St.Peter's Cemetery.
