Frank graduated from Lexington High School in 1983. Upon graduation, he joined the United Stated Marine Corps. This was always a dream he had and he completed 20 years in the service. He entered his military life on December 1, 1983 and did his training at Parris Island in Beaufort, SC. From there he went to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for training. Frank spent most of his 20 years of service in Beaufort, SC. He had a tour in Japan, was deployed during Desert Storm, and also served on the USS Wisconsin. When he retired from his military career, he accepted employment at the U.S. Postal Service. He made many friends and knew all his customers by name. He retired after 15 years to enjoy living at the lake and taking care of his three sons. He and his friends enjoyed bass fishing at the lake and doing yard work and gardening. He also enjoyed visiting the mountains and loved the ocean. Frank and Debbie attended Old Lexington Baptist Church as he served on committees and made many close friends.
Frank is survived by three sons, Frank L. Cooley, Jonathan T. Cooley and David E. Cooley. He is also survived by his parents, Frankie and Ginny Cooley; a loving companion, Debbie Price; his brothers, Steven W. Cooley and Kevin O. Cooley. He enjoyed his time he spent with his nephew, River Cooley and his niece, Meadow Cooley. Frank also had many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Frank was predeceased by his wife, Patricia G. Cooley.
Franks wishes were to be buried in the church cemetery, a historic landmark. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 2:00 P.M at Old Lexington Baptist Church, 800 Old Lexington Road, Leesville, SC 29070. A visitation will precede service from 1:00 - 1:45 PM, Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Old Lexington Baptist Church, 800 Old Lexington Road, Leesville, SC 29070.
The music for the service will include the following songs; these were some of Frank’s favorite songs: “It Is Well With My Soul”, “Victory in Jesus” and “In the Garden”.
