Lucile E. Meetze
Born June 23, 1923
IRMO - Mrs. Lucile Yenny Meetze, 96 years old, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2018. Mrs. Meetze was born in Irmo, South Carolina, to John and Ophelia Yenny, and was one of seven children. She married Junnie Monroe Meetze in 1940. Mrs. Meetze loved her family and always put them first in her life. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Marie Ramsey (Johnny), Joe Meetze (Sarah), David Meetze (Paula), Jean Carter, Sandra Brant (Milton) and (Anita Meetze), all of Irmo; and Faye Brown (Wade) of Latta. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Susan Goodman (Scott), John Ramsey (Laina), Ronnie Meetze, Wade Brown (Bryant), Joy Brewer, Jessica Carter Clendenin (Robert), Murray Meetze, Nathan Brant (Tori) and Caleb Brant; and great-grandchildren: Kalie, Kristi and Savanah Goodman, Lindsey and Brennan Ramsey, Elizabeth and Preston Brown, Nicholas Brewer, Carter Lucile Clendenin, named after her precious great-grandmother, and Emmett Brant; and also numerous nieces and nephews. Her greatest joys were attending her family graduations, weddings, grandchildren's births, and other gatherings and celebrations. A resident of Irmo her entire life, Lucile served in various capacities in school, was named the Maypole Queen, and graduated from Irmo High School in 1940. Lucile was honored and recognized as the 2010 Mother of the Year of Irmo, as well as the WLTX19 Mother of the Day! Her love of learning was evident, and she continued to read a novel a day, mostly westerns, throughout her years. Mrs. Meetze was also a long time, faithful member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. She was fondly known for cooking delicious Sunday dinners for her family and did so faithfully until she was unable to continue, due to her health. Her yard and gardens were full of beautiful flowers, trees, and bountiful fruits and vegetables, which she graciously shared with others. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. Lucile was predeceased by her husband of 57 years of marriage, her three sons, Junnie Meetze, Jr., John D. Meetze and, recently, Roland Monroe Meetze; her grandchildren: Patty Meetze, Jason Brown, and her great-grandchildren, Matthew and Sophie Goodman; her siblings, Frances, Miller, Roy, and Harry Yenny, an infant brother, and her sister, Annie Yenny Lindler. The family of Mrs. Meetze will receive visitors on Saturday, August 4, at 10:00 a.m., the funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., and burial immediately following the funeral service. All services for Mrs. Meetze will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, located at 1541 Lake Murray Blvd., in Irmo. Memorials may be made to Mt.
