Ginger Lee Sweeney, 72, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at home, after a long health battle. Ginger was born November 1, 1946 to John and Virginia (Scown) Brown in Kearney, Nebraska. During grade school, she moved to Kansas City with her parents where she graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1964. After graduation, ginger sold real estate for Remax and Century-21. She also work as a receptionist for Clay county Health Department and eventually retired from Children’s Mercy.
Ginger devoted her life to helping others especially children, donating to many charities to include St. Jude’s and Special Olympics. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, taking pictures on her trips and her numerous animals over the years. She also enjoyed visiting casinos in Atlantic City and Las Vegas, not to mention her favorites locally. Ginger loved the time spent with family wither it was traveling or playing outside with the grandkids. It has been said she would sacrifice of herself so others could have things they needed.
She is preceded in death by her husband Howard “Bud” Sweeney of 16 years and both parents.
She is survived by her two sons; Greg (Phyllis) Ramsay of KCMO and Shane (Kristie) Kern of Pleasanton, KS, and four grandchildren; Leah Ramsay, Averi Stocklaufer, Stetson Kern, and Dakota Kern.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 27, 2019 starting at 11:30 AM at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, 119 E. Franklin, Liberty, MO. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial contributions go to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
