David is survived by his wife, Kay Schwenk, children, Brian Schwenk (Kelly) and Darla Hammer (Larry). He is preceded in death by his parents, Peggy and Cordes Schwenk. He is also survived by his two grandchildren Paul and Elizabeth and one great grandson, Damian.
David was born September 1, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up in Independence, Missouri. He graduated from Northeast High School in Kanas City and then attended the University of Kansas. He married Kay Hanson in 1955. After moving to Atlanta in 1973 with Hubbell Metals, he retired from Ryerson/Tull as purchasing agent.
David enjoyed tennis and golf in his younger years and was skilled at planning activities and events. He supported his desire to make a difference by volunteering in many different organizations like Habitat for Humanity; Great Decisions; Board member of Community Action Center; and Treasurer of The Atlanta Symphony Show House for several years. He was an active and dedicated member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church for over 40 years.
The family would like to thank Emory St. Joseph Hospital personnel and Longleaf Hospice for all their special care during this corona pandemic.
