Mary Ann Robertus, 82, of Lincoln, passed away on August 15, 2022. The first of two children born to Lyle and Darlene (Holtgrewe) Weyand. Mary Ann earned her GED and later an Associate's Degree of Applied Science in Administrative Secretarial from Southeast Community College. She married Don Droud on October 12, 1956, and to this union, daughter Cindy was born.
On September 6, 1960, Mary Ann married Robert (Bob) Robertus of Lincoln; together, they had sons Robert and James. Mary Ann worked different positions over the years, most memorably as a secretary in the Women’s Athletics Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She and Bob made their home in Lincoln until 1980 when they moved to Pleasant Dale, and in 1999 when they retired to Alma. After Bob’s passing, she returned to Lincoln to be closer to family.
Mary Ann was a member of New Visions Community United Methodist Church. She loved Husker football, March Madness (there were strict instructions not to disturb her during this time!), Star Trek, the full moon, dogs, cats, and dinosaurs. Her hobbies included fishing, swimming, quilting, sewing, reading, and working on her personal website.
Besides her parents and parents-in-law, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; brother-in-law Leonard Robertus and his wife Carolyn; and sister-in-law Marilyn and her husband Sheldon (Shelly) Hahn.
She is survived by her three children, Cindy (Bob) Laws, Rob, and Jim (Cathy); brother Joe (Judy) Weyand; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
