Bernard Lakritz of Brooklyn, New York and lately of Whippany NJ, passed away Wednesday, April 18, at Lester Senior Housing in Whippany. He was 95.
Born in New York, NY, Bernard was head of the Engineers and Architects and in charge of all of the more than 600 facilities owned and operated by the NYC Board of Education. A US Navy Veteran, he proudly served his country during WWII and was awarded the American Theater and Victory Medals for his service.
Bernard was predeceased by his loving wife Muriel (Cohen) in 2009. Surviving are his children: Rhona Jacobs of Livingston, Neal Lakritz of Massachusetts and Howard Lakritz of Arizona. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 20, at the Sanctuary of Abraham & Sarah at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus. Gifts in memory of Bernard may be directed towards the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
