Carolyn was a devoted wife to the late Janney Lee and a loving Mom to her children: Johnnie Lee, Loretta Lee-Lopez, Jimmy Lee, Judy Lee Bazile, Joseph Lee, JoAnn Lee, and Jerry Lee.
Carolyn was a loving and proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren: John Jr., Jimmy Jr., Bruce, Linda, Crystal, Tiffany, Anthony, Brandon, Kimberly, Joshua, Audria, Jonathan, Jayden, and 14 great-grandchildren. Carolyn was also “Aunt Tootsie” to 26 nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was born January 24, 1940 in Belleville, New Jersey and passed at the age of 81. She was one of seven children, survived by her loving brother, Robert Bartow, and preceded in death by: James Bartow, Mary Andoldi, Joan Mackey, Josephine Alshuski, and Pearl Hart.
Our Mom, Carolyn, was a stay at home mom most of her life. She will be remembered for her warm smile, sense of style and love of family and food. Carolyn’s Italian roots, combined with Janney’s Chinese heritage blessed them with the talent to cook foods from their origins. They taught their children and grandchildren the family favorites such as rice pudding, egg rolls, raviolis, and stuffed peppers to ensure these wonderful family traditions would be carried on in future generations. Carolyn loved to spend time with her family and especially enjoyed cooking. Carolyn and Janney could always be counted on to host the most lavish Christmas and Chinese New Year celebrations where food, gifts and fun were plentiful. Family meant everything to her and she loved nothing more than to be surrounded by the ones she loved, creating everlasting memories.
Generosity was a big part of Carolyn’s true spirit and she could always be counted on to arrive at any event with plenty of delicious dishes for everyone to enjoy. Kindness was always in abundance and no family member was ever forgotten at Christmas, Birthdays or in times of need. There was no greater love for her than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy, and we were blessed to have her as a mother.
“Sadly, the leaves of memory fall. Gently, I gather and treasure them all.
Unseen, unheard, you are always near. So missed, so loved, so very dear.”
