Persefone “Betty” Parrino, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease at West Caldwell Care Center, NJ, where she lived for the past six years. A memorial gathering will be held at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ, on Sunday, March 8, 2020, from 2-4PM with a service at 3 PM.
Betty was born in Bucharest, Romania, to Kimon and Zaffiro Stavropoulos. In her 20’s she came to New York to work for Trans World Airlines. Betty spoke six languages and enjoyed travelling all over the world, especially to her favorite country Italy. In 1972, she moved to San Rafael, California, and worked in San Francisco as a Traffic Administrator for Bechtel Engineering utilizing her language skills relocating employees to foreign countries for large-scale engineering projects. In 1996, she retired and moved to Boca Raton, Florida.
She loved animals, especially cats. She enjoyed visiting New York City and taking in Broadway musicals. She appreciated fine cuisine, jewelry, clothes, and shoes.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother George Stravo, and nephew Richard Stravo. She is survived by her daughter Monica Parrino-Foulds and her husband Randy, niece, Judith Calandra, and nephews, Richard Furno and Godson Authur Green.
