Hugh E. Bennett, 85, of Detroit, passed away December 5, 2019 in Plymouth, Michigan. Hugh was born on Feb. 28, 1934 in Detroit to Ivor & Blodwen Bennett, the second of their two sons. Hugh graduated from MacKenzie High School in Detroit and continued his education at Lawrence Technological University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post #300, Lake City, Michigan. Mr. Bennett retired in 1991 after a long career as Interior Design Engineer for Ford Motor Company. On September 14, 1957 he married Stella Bickford and together they raised their two sons, David and Kevin. His passions outside of work included golf, bowling, time at the cottage on beautiful Lake Missaukee in Lake City, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his two sons, Kevin (Rose) Bennett and David (Carol) Bennett; grandchildren, Kevin Bennett, Jr., Veronica Bennett, Benjamin Bennett, Joseph Bennett and Jessica Bennett; great-grandchildren, Malia, Mateo, Miles and Joseph, Jr.
Two nieces, two nephews, many great-nieces and great-nephews along with many friends also survive.
Hugh was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Stella, his brother, David Bennett and sister-in-law, Mary Bennett.
A Memorial Service will be held in Spring 2020.
