Joseph E. Chernowas

Joseph E. "Joe" Chernowas, 71, of Livonia, passed away suddenly on October 4, 2020. Joe was born in Detroit, Michigan on March 14, 1949, the youngest of three children born to Anthony and Fannie (LaGate) Chernowas. Joe served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War and sustained injuries in combat. In his spare time Joe was a model car and plane enthusiast having constructed hundreds over the years. Joe is survived by brother, James (Linda) Chernowas of Taylor, Michigan and sister, Jean (Leonard) Johnson. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Private cremation services were scheduled.

Hi I was a midnight nurse who had the pleasure to take care of joe.I had a week off and came back to find the bad news I am still in shock.Me and joe would always talk about the military a lot of things he was a good friend of mine and he will be dearly missed.I remember he was a very loving kind man who was always worried about me lately which was not necessary I told him but joe was a sweetheart .I will miss our nightly chats on the meadows unit.I will miss his stories About the things he did in his life .He always told me to keep family close and he loved his sister dearly for everything she did for her throughout his life.Rest in peace my friend no more nightmares buddy Love Jolene (LPN)
