OBITUARY

Yoshiko Sugiyama

April 11, 1930June 18, 2020

Yoshiko Sugiyama, 90, of Northville, Michigan passed away on June 18, 2020. She was born in Fresno, California on April 11, 1930 to the late Minezo and Takie Itami.

Yoshiko was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Sugiyama. Loving mother of Howard (late Barbara) and Michael (Kathy). Proud Baachan to Kimiko, Allison and Samantha. Cherished sister to Shyo (late Yoshi) and Nobe (Louise). She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Yoshiko was an active member of the Northville and Livonia senior community centers. She was an avid card player and enjoyed board games with family. She was extremely generous with her time and talent, always “doing for others”. Whether it was making mats for the homeless, hats for preemie babies, lap quilts for veterans or blankets for the animal shelter. Her last “project” was making face masks for Covid-19. The world has lost a kindhearted, gentle soul. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her and did what we should all aspire to do; “leave this world a better place than we found it.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Yoshiko are appreciated to Angela Hospice or to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Yo was such a pleasure to know and be with. I met her at the Northville Center and we had fun playing cards and loved when we shared treats and recipes.
She will be missed by all her friends there, including me. Such a sweetheart.

With deepest sympathy for the passing of your Mom Mike. She was a favorite lady of mine. I enjoyed her candor and she always had a smile. She was a survivor too.
Regards
