On March 28th, Alex Sarutzki passed away while puttering away at his many, many projects. Born in Menno, South Dakota in 1939 to Alex and Ida Sarutzki, they and his two older sisters would soon move to Malin, Oregon where he spent his formative years. In 1949 the family made their way to Longmont, Colorado where Alex would remain for the balance of his life. After graduating from Longmont High School, he set sail with the Navy to serve as a Hospital Corpsman. When he returned from duty, he began college, and a varied career that included long stints at Storage Technology Corporation and the United States Post Office. Most important to Alex was his family. In 1965 he married Evanne Beal, who would remain his beloved wife for just under fifty-five years. Their four children: Tracy, Shelly, Polly, Wendy; and two grandchildren: Alex John and Kaylee Jo were his greatest accomplishments. Alex was an avid music fan, particularly of big-band and jazz. He played the accordion from youth, then transitioned to piano and keyboard, which he played daily up to the time of his passing. He loved stand-up comedy, old movies, football, and dreaming. Mostly, he loved his family. And they, in-turn, love him.
