Darlene L. Godfrey of Longmont, Colorado passed away peacefully Monday, April 1, 2024 at home with her daughter, Myra, by her side. She was born to Carl and Irene (Nelson) Erickson on May 14, 1934 in Kearney, Nebraska.
After graduating from Longfellow High School in Kearney in 1952, Darlene married Wayne Godfrey on March 8, 1953. In 1960, with four children, Wayne and Darlene moved from Inland, Nebraska to the Longmont, Colorado area where their fifth child, Clark, was born.
With all five children in school, Darlene started working at jobs that included Fort Lupton Canning Co., Strear Turkey Farms, Eventide Nursing Home in Longmont, Leo’s Appliance Repair in Boulder and for 17 years at Storage Technology in Louisville.
Darlene enjoyed going to school activities, concerts and sports events that her children were involved in and attended Fort Lupton Baptist Church and Longmont Calvary Church. Wayne and Darlene enjoyed their time together working on family history and after Wayne passed away in 2000, Darlene spent her time collecting and sharing family history. She especially enjoyed trips with family and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Wayne Godfrey, her oldest son, Leroy Godfrey and grandson, Aaron Godfrey.
She is survived by her daughter, Myra Imhof (Don) of Central City, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Joyce Godfrey of Fort Lupton and three sons; Craig Godfrey (Jana) of Berthoud, Marlin Godfrey (Dawn) of Berthoud and Clark Godfrey of Longmont; Seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Longmont Calvary Church, 2101 Gay Street, at 3:00 pm. Friday, April 26 followed by a gathering time for family and friends with a catered meal. Shane Miles of Longmont Calvary will be officiating the service with the assistance of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
