He was born on November 30, 1942, in Wayne County, Indiana to Olvis and Ruth Marcum. In 1958 at the age of 16 he joined the United States Navy. He served for 12 years aboard the Zellars Destroyer Ship 777. He crossed the Shellback and the Golden Shellback. He loved visiting different countries during his tours and sharing his glorious sea stories to everyone. In 1970 he started working for the Ford Motor Company, where he retired as a chief powerhouse engineer. Ford Tough! Bruce also loved working as an avid flower gardener.
He is preceded in death by his parents Olvis and Ruth Marcum, two brothers Darrell and Rick Marcum, son Michael Bryant, grand-daughters Sara Zepernick, Jessica Hughes, and Deirdre Morris.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Esther Marcum, sister Alta Geis, daughters; Kimberly (Bob) Mercier, Donna (Mike) Hughes, Glina Lentz, sons; Shawn Marcum, Johnny (Sheila) Bryant, grandchildren; Michelle Phelps, Melissa Bryant, Stacy Zepernick, Christopher Hazel, Alisha (Rob) Bodner, Brandy Hudspeth, Angela (Dylan) Bishop, Allison Lentz, Alissa Marcum, Edward Lentz Jr., Cameron Marcum, 13 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Bruce was so blessed to be loved by so many that he will not only be missed by his friends and family but everyone he ever met. Rest peacefully in Heaven with the Lord by your side, you will forever be missed.
A visitation for Bruce will be held Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218.
