David "Dave" P. Brian

Dave was 89 years old & was born in Louisville, KY to Oscar P. & Lillian Brian. Dave’s childhood was spent mostly on the backside of Churchill Downs with his 3 sisters Betty, Darlene & Vivyan & youngest brother Byron. Dave attended Manual High School & shortly after joined The Navy & served on the Destroyer, USS Hamil in the Pacific in the Korean War.

Dave was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed playing baseball, golf, fishing & bowling. He loved watching his UK Wildcats play.

Dave’s career as a Mechanical Estimator for 37 years took him from Louisville to Chicago to Ft. Wayne, IN then retirement allowing him to return back home in Louisville to be with his family in 2002.

He is preceded in death by his Father, Mother & oldest sister. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Brian, and their only daughter, Vanessa Widmer and husband Brett. Grandchildren, Austin Widmer and wife Megan, Ashley Widmer and Alex Widmer. He is also survived by his siblings Darlene Horstman, Vivyan Wagner, Byron Brian and wife Pat, and many nieces & nephews.

Visitation & Memorial service to celebrate Dave's life will be held on Saturday, November 11 from 1-3 pm & the Celebration of Life service immediately following at 3pm at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd.

Family will have a military ceremony with inurnment at 11:00am, on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Kentucky Veterans Memorial Cemetery Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd, Radcliff KY., 40160.
