Mattingly, Frederick Thomas, 82 of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at The Altenheim with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Breckinridge County to the late Owen Mattingly and Rosella Simpson.
Fred was a devoted husband to his wife Martha for 59 years. He loved playing cards, bowling, square dancing, karaoke, reminiscing about his time in the Navy and especially spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Fred was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He worked at Naval Ordinance for 41 years before retiring in 1994. Fred was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the America Legion. He was a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Bobby; and his sisters: Marilyn and Mabel Ann Donnelly.
Fred leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Martha Ott Mattingly; children: Tony Mattingly (Angel) and Denise Guelda (Tommy); grandchildren: Thomas Guelda Jr. (Amanda), Joseph Guelda (Rachel), Stephen Guelda (Niki), Sarah Mattingly, Christopher Mattingly and Nicholas Mattingly; great-grandchildren: Daighre, Firienne, Luke, Benjamin, and Caitlyn; his brother: Bill Mattingly (Mary); and many extended family members and friends.
His family would like to give a sincere thanks to the exceptional, compassionate staff at the Altenheim and his wonderful Hosparus team.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Drive Louisville, KY 40228 with burial immediately following at Resthaven Memorial Park 4400 Bardstown Rd Louisville, KY 40218. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Arch L Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home 4400 Bardstown Rd Louisville, KY 40218.
