James "Jim" E. Davis, 75, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 6, 2013, at Friendship Manor, with his loving family by his side. He was a native of Knoxville, TN, and a U. S. Army veteran. Jim had retired from sales for LaCrosse Footwear. He absolutely loved his job and the 25 years he spent with LaCrosse, his co-workers and customers. He was a people person, and a fair man believing in equality for all. A no-nonsense and honest man. He loved to travel and spend time going to the coast.

Jim was a member of Southeast Christian Church and enjoyed spending Saturdays with the Men's Bible Study group. He and his wife Bev, hosted in their home a bible study that he enjoyed sharing not only the Bible, but the fellowship with other Christians. He was an avid golfer and taught all of his grandchildren and family how to play, holding golf clinics every year for them, and he was a U of K fan.

Cherishing his memory is his loving wife of 27 years, Beverly Hartlauf Davis; children, Keith (Natalia) Davis, Lori (Mike) Mehlbauer, Laura (Billy) Myers, Kim (Eddie) Brewer, Bryan (Hilari) Neuner ; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A Life Celebration will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at 12 noon at Southeast Christian Church, 920 Blankenbaker Parkway, with interment following in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service from 10 a.m. till service time

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the American Council for the Blind, 4420 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40216

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Friendship Manor for the exceptional care, love and support that was given to them and Jim at this difficult time.

I worked with Mr. Davis as his Physical Therapist at his home where I got to know him very well. He was a hard worker with a great attitude. I grew to know his lovely wife where we would often talk about Jesus. I miss him but also jealous that he is with our Saviour. I'll see you again. God Bless you, Bev.

Love,
Audrey Veith

Beverly, Todd had a message from Mike Oglesbee today about Jim's passing. We are both so saddened to hear the news. You know how much Todd and I enjoyed spending time with you and Jim, and Jim was always such a role model and mentor to Todd. We have certainly missed you over the years and have thought of you often. We would love to catch up with you when you have a few minutes to talk. Todd's cell is 706-302-5489, mine is 706-302-5505. Our deepest, most sincere sympathies to you and the kids. Todd and Renae Willis
