What a sweet boy James was as a young man, as I first knew him and particularly when he married Erica! I still remember his wedding, and how beautiful it was and how happy he was too. Such wonderful times to remember. Then James grew up and became such a good man, taking care of his country in the military and his children, the girls, as they grew up. I still remember that skinny young boy, and he was very respectful and just cheerful when I knew him. i also remember how much he loved his mother, Brenda, as they would meet and he would listen to her advice which was always kind and reasonable. It did my heart good to know that James would meet with his Mom and spend the day when she was off work. I will miss this kind soul, good warrior, and good father too. James was a quiet guy and kept things to himself, but no one knew him better than his Mother, who loved him more than the Sun and the Moon. Jeremy, James' brother, was always there for him too, and they were twins but such different and interesting personalities. James will be more than missed and I will miss, now that he was settled in Texas after all the wars he saw, the time I might have been able to spend with him. God's the lucky one now! Much love, Jane

I first met James right out of high school. He was like a big brother to me. I would drag him everywhere! Haunted houses, six flags, parties, Denny’s at 2:00am while he would throw bacon at me as I would be so tired asleep on the table. I can hear him laughing at me! Then...I met Erica! My dear sweet Erica! It was all over for James! He was the third wheel following behind us girls carrying our purses. Haha! Oh man! He took good care of us! Then those sweet beautiful girls came along! So loving and funny. Oh James ...I can’t believe you are gone my friend. Just doesn’t seem real. May you Rest In Peace. ❤️

I met James when we both attended Combat Eng school in March of 2008. He was always upbeat and had this smirk on his face. Couldnt help like the guy. We stayed in touch for about two years during our deployment, and a bit after. But unfortunately, like most men, we drifted apart over the last few years. The main thing that always drew me to him was his love of service and love for his family. He will be greatly missed. Praying for all his loved one's to find comfort in the Lord in this time of great loss.

When I think of James and Jeremy, there is a certain picture that comes to mind! They are little boys, probably 3-4 ish, sitting in Aunt Erma's lap in the living room of Granny, Papaw and Aunt Erma's house! They were such cute little fellows! I hate that the miles between us kept us from being able to see them grow up! We cousins always had the best time in the summer when you all came home to visit! I love you, Bren and Jeremy! Praying for God's comfort and peace to sustain you all in the days to come... Much love...Donna

As your 1SG in Iraq, I was impressed by your professionalism, honor, and sense of humor. It is a sad day for us mortals on earth, but I'm confident you are continuing the watch over our brothers and sisters in arms. Time for you to rest easy, mission complete Staff Sergeant, and your shiny side will always be up.
