Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Scott, age 81, of Louisville, passed peacefully to her heavenly home Saturday morning, May 18, 2019 at Baptist Health Hospital. She was born April 1938 in a small town of Bagdad, KY, eventually moving to Shelby County, KY where she married her late husband, Rev. Asby L. Scott on June 20, 1958. She is the daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Sarah Louise Williams.
Mary was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Williams Jr., Jerry D. Williams; and sisters, Norma J. Williams and Pauline Manica.
Mary is survived by her two daughters and stepson, Lynn Scott, Sarah Simmons (Ricky) and Ronald L. Scott (Kpobe-Tee). She was a loving grandmother to Tiara and Demetrius Simmons and Gabriel Scott (Alendria) and an aunt to many nieces and nephews. In memory, she was survived by her siblings Richard Williams (Diana), William Ray Williams (Lauranetta), Edward J. Williams, Raymond Williams and Betty L. Williams.
As a young child, she was baptized as a member of Clay Street Baptist Church of Shelbyville, Kentucky. Later, she joined West Baden Baptist Church in French Lick, Indiana where her husband pastored. Finally, she became an active member of Centennial Olivet Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended Kentucky State University and majored in home economics. She began working at Louisville VA Medical Center as a Medical Supply Technician in 1970 and retired as the Executive Vice-President of A.F.G.E Local 1133 in 1992.
In her retirement, she enjoyed being active in church organizations, working at Wayside Christian Missions Daycare and spending time with family and friends.
Visitation is from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. A service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 2pm. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
