I just learned today that Tillie has left us to join her beloved Harold and sister, in Heaven without doubt. She was my "mom" at Purdue, and a special friend for over 45 years. She attended my graduation, wedding, parents' 50th, and so many more milestone moments. She never missed a birthday or anniversary. I especially treasure our visits to Churchill Downs. What a treat to go with "locals." When I talked with her for the last time in August, I knew she was ready to pass to another world. We will miss dear Tillie, and feel deeply grateful to have had her in our lives.

Tillie was Aunt Tillie to me. My fondest memories were her telling me bed time stories about how different flowers were created, The Tiger Lilly ( from tigers), Pussy Willows ( from cats), Snap Dragons.....etc.
Tillie was my exotic play aunt who traveled the world, had a wonderful laugh, a twinkle in her eye; and a love of life, health, family and friends. She will be missed and remembered.

Tillie never let you leave her home empty handed, sending you off with a box of chocolates or another tasty treat. She was loving, warm, spirited, wonderful, and a great neighbor. We will miss her very much and remember her always.

Tillie, you will be missed. It is hard to look over at your house and not see you out sweeping the porch or attending to your plants...and I will miss your bright disposition, love for friends and neighbors and of course your sassiness. You knew so much about Crescent Hill and shared fabulous stories of your travels. I've known you since I was 8 years old and my 2 children grew up with your love. Rest in peace sweet Tillie.❤️

Tillie was one of the most amazing women I had ever met. I loved hearing her stories of travel, she was such an adventurer. I am going to miss her terribly but feel so very blessed to have known her.

Tillie ... one of the most kind and gentle persons I have ever met. She was loving and welcoming as you entered the church. I looked for her whenever I attended. She’s the essence of what Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church strives to be.

I will miss her always.

Rest in peace, dear Tillie. Your influence in my life will never be forgotten. You cared for me like a daughter. You welcomed me into your home and offered a friendship unlike any I had ever known. I will always cherish those happy years on Hillcrest. Thank you for your wisdom, for your friendship and for your love. I am forever grateful. Much love to you, Toni xo

Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church lost our longest standing member, Tillie Oberheim, on November 24th. Tillie was 94 and lived a full and adventurous life having travelled all over the world, first by herself, and then with her beloved Harold. Tillie lived with gusto into her last year having been known to crawl out onto her roof to clean gutters well into her 80’s. She has strong opinions which she never hesitated to share. She had friends of every age and loved most everyone. At Christmas she went around to all her service providers with thoughtful presents for those who worked there. She knew that to have good friends you have to be one. Tillie will, indeed, be missed by her many friends. I’ll be carrying my memory of her forward - because that’s what you do with your heroes.

Tillie was a long-time family friend. She was fun, spirited and "ahead of her time". It has been an honor to have known her and to have her let me share in her life. She will be missed but is finally at peace.
