Lex Wendell Jameson

Lex Jameson passed away December 22, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born January 21, 1925 and was 95 years old. Lex loved Christmas and when told of his passing, his great-grandson commented, “It is neat that grandpa gets to spend Christmas with Jesus.”

Lex was born in Elsie, Nebraska and left Nebraska to join the U.S Army and serve in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, he moved to Denver, Colorado to complete his college degree at the University of Denver. In Denver, he married his wife, Mary Helen. In August, they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Lex worked in management in the trucking industry for 35 years in both Denver and Lubbock, TX. He was a past president of the Colorado Trucking Accounting & Finance Council, before moving to Lubbock.

Lex was very active in the Methodist Church. He played piano and loved music, especially organ music. He was active in the Boy Scouts as all three sons made the rank of Eagle Scout. Lex was also active in the Lubbock Square Dance Federation, The Lubbock Knife and Fork Club, and a member of the American Windmill Museum. Lex loved to travel and he and Mary Helen visited all 50 of the United States and 44 Foreign Countries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert M Jameson and Ida Carter Jameson; two sisters, Agnes Flaming and Beryl Anderson.

Lex is survived by another sister, Inez McCaffree, who is 105 years old; wife of 70 years, Mary Helen; three sons and one daughter-in-law: Carl Jameson (Denver, Colorado), Keith Jameson (Midland, Texas), and Gary and Suzie Jameson (Lubbock, Texas); also blessed to have 2 grandchildren and their spouses, Shanna and Jason Daniels, Matt and Amanda Jameson; and 6 great grandchildren.

A Graveside Service in honor of Lex will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2021 at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Livestream will be available on Resthaven’s Facebook.

The family suggests memorials to the Everliving Church Trust at First United Methodist Church, 1411 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401 or to a charity of choice.
