Mr. Edward "Chomp" John Arceneaux Sr.

Edward John “Chomp” Arceneaux, Sr. passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the St. James Parish Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, a member of the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He was the owner-operator of a service station and a mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Convent, the VFW and American Legion Post in Lutcher. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Marie Chauvin Arceneaux. Three children; Edward “Butch” Arceneaux, Jr., Jeffrey Arceneaux (Mollie Louque) and Marilyn A. Waguespack (Ivy) of Convent. Six grandchildren; Jennifer Waguespack Murphy (Jamie), Brad Waguespack (Heather Morales), Devon Waguespack, Luke, Lindsey and Laynie Arceneaux. Five great-grandchildren; Lauryn LeBoeuf, Peyton Murphy, Collin, Alex and Brennan Waguespack. Special friends; Kat and Fred Alleman and Margie “Poon” Chauvin, Paulette and Robert Havard. He was preceded in death by his parents; Paul Joseph Arceneaux and Nellie Hebert. . Eight brothers and one sister. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010 from 8:00 am until 10:45 am at the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Convent. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am from the church with Fr. Mark Beard officiating. Military Honors will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Convent. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher.
