Elmo McKeever Burns, 78, of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Dorothy Pearl Leech Burns.
Born on December 29, 1940 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Lester Burns and the late Madeline Childress Burns. Elmo retired from the City of Lynchburg. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need. Elmo enjoyed meeting people and striking up a conversation as he never met a stranger and he enjoyed watching football and sitting on the porch. Elmo loved his children and grandchildren and his dog, Lilly.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Phillip Burns and his six siblings.
Elmo is survived by his daughters, Debbie Almond and Linda Thomas and husband Jerry; three grandchildren, Mike Adams, Jr., Pam Moorland, and Michelle Almond; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous other family members.
A graveside inurnment will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Spring Hill Cemetery.
