Born on October 5, 1934 in Greenfield, Indiana, he was the son of Melvin and Fulia Crider. Dick attended Indiana Tech where he studied mechanical engineering. He served in the Air National Guard until his honorable discharge with a rank of airman second class. Dick worked at General Motors for 20 years and retired from Motion Industries in 1996. He was a sport enthusiast and avid Nascar fan. His favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. He was also a lifelong golfer and an ambassador for LU Flames football. He attended Thomas Road Baptist Church. Dick was a member of the Indiana Free Mason Hancock Lodge in Greenfield, IN for over 60 years.
In addition to his wife, Nancy Crider, he is survived by a daughter, Camilla “Cammie” Walker (Bill) of Chesterfield, VA; son, Timothy Crider of Valrico, FL; grandson, Josh Walker of Chesterfield, VA; granddaughter, Kristen Walker of Reston, VA; sister, Marcia Robbins of Greenfield, IN; step-children, Anita Doss Gillespie (Bill) of Forest, VA; Chris Doss (Lynn) of Lynchburg, VA, and James Darrell Doss of White Post, VA; step-grandchildren, Taylor and Joseph Doss of Lynchburg, VA, Cameron Gillespie of Enfield, Connecticut, and Rachel Bagley of Denton, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor Dave Heerspink officiating.
