LYNN- Marvin Lee Wilkes, 82, of Lynn, passed away at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Sunday, September 2nd . Marvin was the beloved companion of Albertina (Morris) Robbillard of Lynn for many years. Born and educated in Bessemer, AL, he was the son of the late Marvin L. Wilkes, Sr. and Pearlie (O’Bannon) Wilkes. He was the devoted father of Marvina Wilkes of Dorchester and Renée Horton and her husband, Michael of Augusta, GA, the cherished grandfather of Michael McMillan, Renée Patterson, Michael Wesley Horton and Gabriel Horton, the treasured great –grandfather of Mykel McMillan and the dear nephew of Irene O’Bannon. He is also survived by many loving cousins. Marvin graduated from Dunbar High School in Bessemer, AL with the Class of 1953 and served in the U.S. Army in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. Later, Marvin earned his Associates Degree at Boston University. He worked in the Medical Records Department at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington for many years prior to his retirement. Marvin was a loving family man who cherished his family and enjoyed being with his friends. He was a kind person who would help anyone in need. Marvin was a jazz aficionado with an extensive vinyl record collection. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Marvin’s funeral service will be held at 1.00 p.m. on Satruday, September 8th at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn. There will be no calling hours.
