ROJEAN Sue GARNICA
May 8, 1948 – November 6, 2019
Rojean Sue Grazzini Garnica, age 71, passed away Wednesday morning November 6th 2019. All week she had been surrounded by family and loved ones in the Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle.
Rojean was born in Tacoma, Washington on May 8,1948 to Dorothy and Fred Grazzini. She grew up in Richland Washington, where she attended school. She loved to sing, dance, and write which she did throughout her life. She performed leading parts in several musicals, and published articles in newspapers and magazines.
Rojean married Luis Sandoval Garnica on August 17, 1970 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple and together they raised 5 children, living over thirty years in Bothell, Washington. She received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Washington and then later a masters in Education. She worked as a reading recovery teacher for Mountlake Terrace Elementary for 23 years. She was a national board certified teacher and in 2006 received the Golden Apple Award, which honors excellence in teaching and those who are making a positive difference in Washington State education. Rojean was always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her later years, Rojean loved taking walks by the water, reading, writing, researching health, and visiting with family and friends.
Rojean is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Dorothy Grazzini and her husband Luis Sandoval Garnica.
Rojean is survived by her five children, Luis Garnica, Pepa Garnica, Fred Garnica, Elisa Smith and Rebecca Romney, as well as her five siblings Nello, Fred, Jolene, Charmaine and Jill, 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to oncologists, acupuncturists, chinese herbalists, chiropractors, and Jesus Christ, all of who blessed her and allowed her to have a life extension when she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Neuroendocrine tumor cancer, ten years ago.
