He was the first to complete college education in his family, achieved a Bachelor’s degree at Qing Hua University in China majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Because he criticized CCP, during China’s Culture Revolution, one of the greatest atrocities of human history, he was sent to work on a coal mine in western China. He endured torture, survived lengthy prosecution but never gave up his principle and dignity. As soon as the revolution ended, he was restored to his position as the head engineer. He designed the first semi-automatic mechanical boulder breaker and personally oversaw the construction of it. The massive equipment was in operation from late1970’s till early 2000’s in the largest open pit coal mine in western China. After he retired, he relocated to America to be near his oldest daughter and her family, spending most of his time making walking canes, prayer benches, tending to his garden and playing with his two grandsons. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors at his ranch. He led an amazing example of perseverance yet was incredibly humble about his achievements. He was always content, always smiling. His love for his grandsons was beyond words. He touched a lot of people with his immense love and kindness. He will be truly missed by all those who knew him.
