Gary was born on October 29, 1940 in Odessa, Texas to parents James Colwell and Evelyn (Sharpe) Gallatin and entered into eternal rest on May 20, 2019 at the age of 78. Gary was drafted into the United States Army, where he served 2 years with the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers. He graduated from North Texas State University with a Degree in Business Administration. Gary went to work for Flowers Industry, Tandem Computers and retired from Greyhound.
He married Linda Ayers in Dallas, Texas on February 16, 1980. Gary was a quiet man, who enjoyed being outdoors fishing and golfing. When he was young, Gary enjoyed playing high school football. He was an avid reader and gardener and loved tending to his orchids and hot peppers. Gary was an active member of St. James on the Lake Episcopal Church. He was chairman of Adopt-A-Family golf tournament and he volunteered after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda Gallatin, the mother of his children Mary Beth Gallatin and brother Jim Gallatin.
He is survived by his son David Gallatin of Bunker Hill, Indiana, son Daryl Gallatin and wife Kristine of Hudson, MA, granddaughter Lynn McAlum, grandson Brad Gallatin, niece Vicki Ayers Lee, nephew Dwayne Ayers, nephew Norman Ayers Jr., niece Meg McGuire, nephew Brian Gallatin, other loving family members and many more lifelong friends.
