He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968, 1971 to 1982 and 1986 to 1992. He married his wife, Donna in 1986. After his retirement from the Navy, he worked at Wesley Willows until he retired there in 2009.
Kenneth enjoyed photography, dancing, playing cards (especially solitaire) and his cats. He especially loved spending time with his great grandchildren. He was the honorary grandfather at the Zoo Childcare.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Larry Freese, Kenneth E. (Emily) Freese and Patricia (Christopher) Mateika; grandchildren, Samuel (Deborah) Mateika, James Mateika, Cassandra Mateika- Blondin, Daniel Mateika and Brenna Freese. Kenneth is also survived by great grandchildren, Madelynn, Matthew, Samantha, Charlotte, Jacob, Wyatt, and siblings; Jaree Lewis and Calvin Freese.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Richard Freese, Donald Freese, Thomas Freese, Janis Freese, Joan Allen, and Larry Freese.

Memorial service will be at 4pm, Sunday July 14, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park. Chaplain Bruce Main will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 3pm to 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the family for a memorial to be established in Ken’s name.
