Sybil E. Davis, 83 of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, June 19, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 18, 1937 in Tishomingo County, MS, the daughter of Joseph and Ruby (Bray) Childers. Sybil married Charles A. Davis on January 20, 1963. She was a cosmetologist for over 30 years, mainly running a shop out of her home. Sybil was a homebody, who loved gospel music and tending to her flowers. Sybil loved making many of her southern style meals and treats for her family and friends. Most of all, she loved her family; often spending time with her grandchildren while they were growing up.
Sybil is loved and missed by her children, Dianna (David) Korsky, Sharon (Joe) McIntyre, Chuck (Debbie) Davis, Charlotte (Dave) Vincer and Barbi Davis; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sybil was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Charles and 12 siblings.
A service to celebrate Sybil’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Chapel of Love.
