Francis Marion Carson II

Francis Marion Carson II, of Madison, Georgia passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5 after a short illness. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 8 at 2 p.m. at Madison Presbyterian Church in Madison, GA with the Rev. David Powers officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private in Carson Family Cemetery. Memorials may be made to youth programs at Madison Presbyterian Church or the College of Engineering at the University of Georgia. He was a native of Reynolds, Georgia. He was a graduate of Middle Georgia College and received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Georgia. He was retired from Georgia Power Company for whom he worked many years in Columbus, Manchester, and Atlanta.

Francis was President of the Manchester Jaycees and a Deacon at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. He helped with youth soccer and scout groups when he lived in Stone Mountain. He served in the Georgia Natural Guard.

He was the son of the late James Ricks Carson and Camilla Hill Carson, both of Reynolds, Georgia. He was predeceased by his brothers James Ricks Carson, Jr. of Leesburg, FL, Joseph Lee Carson of Macon, and John King Carson of Atlanta.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Virginia McSwain Carson and their children: Bryan Logan Carson (Laura) of Swansboro, NC; Camilla Carson Moss (Lee) of Madison, GA; and Francis Marion Carson III (Kristen) of Bogart, GA. He had five grandchildren: Eleanor Smith Moss, Carson Davis Moss, Ricks Kenneth Carson, Davis James Carson, and Reed Laurens Carson.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Beverly Hudson Carson of Warner Robins and nephews: James Ricks Carson, III (Betsy) of Atlanta; Phillip Campbell Carson (Linda) of Rabun Gap; John Jefferson Carson of Macon; James Hudson Carson (Lori) of Richardson TX; and John King Carson, Jr. (Beverly) of Atlanta; and his niece: Nancy Carson Robinson of Atlanta.

Biography
