Jane A. Gair

Jane B. Gair, age 86, of Madison and Ridgefield, passed on to Life Eternal with God on Friday, September 23, 2016 with her loving daughter by her side. Born in Ridgefield, CT on October 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late George Nelson Bloomer and Robina Edith Bloomer, and the younger sister of the late George Nelson Bloomer Jr.

Jane graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1947 and went on to graduate from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City in 1950. She also received a secretarial degree from Katherine Gibbs School in 1951. During the 1970s, Jane worked as a secretary at the Ridgefield Board of Education. She also served as an executive secretary for Texas Gulf Corporation in Stamford, CT for many years.

Jane was an accomplished artist who loved working in watercolors and was a member of the Ridgefield Guild of Artists. She enjoyed singing in various chorale groups in Ridgefield lead by Ernestine Holmes, as well as in the choir at Ridgefield Congregational Church and at Christ Chapel in Madison, CT. She also enjoyed attending bible study at a friend’s home in Clinton.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will be missed deeply by her only daughter Robin M. Brown and her husband Bob Brown of Madison, CT, as well as her two grandchildren Christopher R. Brown of North Branford, CT and Kathryn A. Brown of Stamford, CT.

A Celebration of Life service be held on Sunday, October 2 at 3:00pm at Christ Chapel, 1185 Durham Rd, Madison, CT with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jane’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity she frequently supported, at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or by visiting .
