Katheryn Ferris Grishaw

Born in Concord, March 22, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Elmer H. Ferris and Myrtle Mayberry Ferris Crews. She was a charter member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. Because of her love of children, she served in the children’s ministry for over 67 years at Bible Baptist, Old Concord Presbyterian and Thomas Road Churches.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Estelle F. Layne and three brothers-in-law, Simon Layne, Ronald Perry and Richard Beard.

She is survived by her son, Roger C. Grishaw and his wife Joan of Spout Spring and three grandchildren and their families, Gayle Grishaw Knapp and husband Charlie and their daughter Devon Knapp and her fiancé Danny, Angela Grishaw Dill and husband Michael and children, Cody Maddox, his wife Samantha and their daughter Alexis Kate and Dustin Tyler Maddox,USN and Mark Grishaw and his wife Brandy and children Kandace Earhorn and husband Ted and Destiny Grishaw. She is also survived by two brothers, E. Eugene Ferris of Lynchburg and Joseph Ferris and wife Kathy of Spout Spring and three sisters, Doris Perry, Edith F. Mayberry and husband Joe and Miriam F. Beard all of Lynchburg.

A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Old Concord Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jonathan Falwell, the Rev. David Heerspink and the Rev. David Horsley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of her son.
