Ora L. “Bud” Patton Jr., 84, of Charleston, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at the Charleston Hubbard House surrounded by family and friends. “Bud” was born on November 9, 1933 in Charleston to the late Ora L. Sr. and Elsie White Patton. He attended the Valley Grove Church of the Nazarene, was retired from Sears with 25 years of service and was a U. S. Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War. “Bud” was also an avid hunter and golfer. He was preceded in death by both his parents and sister, Rachael Cottrill. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Maxine “Pal” Patton; daughter, Darlene Patton of Port Orange, FL.; son, Chad Patton and Leissa Engel of Charleston; grandchildren, Delaney Patton Dobbs and Lakin Grace Patton; brother, Jack Patton of Ravenswood; nephews, Michael Patton of Mineral Wells and Greg Patton of Ravenswood; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Rick Gardner and the Rev. John Fowler officiating. The burial with Military Graveside Rites will follow the service at O’Daniel Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation for family and friends will be 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Fond memories of Bud in church . His wonderful smile and friendly handshake . He so enjoyed the Wednesday night Bible study , learning about the things of God and drawing closer to his savior . What a joy and privilege it was to have known him. Our love and prayers to the family and especially to his dear wife, Pal. Our loss here on earth is certainly heavens gain .

We have known Bud all my life we all live in valley grove at a reunion few years ago and got to see Bud & Pal dance they sure could cut a rug and Omer was going down to there house and was citing there banks and weeds and he said he got to sit down and talk to Bud and enjoyed there talks we will miss him I will see him one day again in our heavenly home God Bless you Pal our prays are with you and your family
