Bert was born in the Bronx, NY, June 13, 1931, son of the late Leo and Janet Breines Gold. He was raised in Palisades Park, NJ, and moved to East Brunswick where he and his wife raised three daughters before moving to Monroe Township more than 20 years ago. He was easy going with a great sense of humor, in addition, he was the athlete everyone wanted on their team. His love of sports lasted a lifetime. When he was younger he played basketball, volleyball, and softball and well into his 70's, he was still playing tennis, bowling and winning medals during the Senior Olympics in his community. He included his daughters in his many interests.
He enlisted in the Army after World War II and was sent to Germany where he served as a cook and a driver. He worked as an off-set printer most of his adult life before retiring.
Enjoying his life with the people he loved was his priority. He was an amazing man who adored his family and the feeling was mutual.
In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by his beloved children, Sherri and Michael Rodman, of Marlborough, MA, Lisa and Larry Krenkel, of Milford, PA, and Barbara Berger, of East Windsor, NJ. He leaves three beloved grandchildren, Lindsey Rodman, Bryan Berger, and Haley Rodman as well as nieces and nephews and the many friends he made along his journey. He was predeceased by his brothers Martin Gold and Norman Gold.
A funeral service will be held, Sunday, 10:30am, May 16, 2021 at Beth Israel Cemetery (office), 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
Shiva will be held from 2:00-7:00pm at the Gold Residence.
