Carmella Paula Ranieri

Paula “Mellie” Ranieri, 82, died May 16, 2019 at her home in Manasquan, NJ. Mellie enjoyed her family and was truly a kind and caring person. Her wry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. She was an artist who enjoyed painting. Her subjects ranged from landscapes to still-life. She had a fondness for painting in miniature. She was also a good cook. Everyone enjoyed her famous coleslaw and her cookies. Mellie was a life-long resident of Newark, NJ, and eventually retired to her home in Manasquan, NJ. She was born in Newark, NJ, to James and Laura (Chimienti) Ranieri who had emigrated from Italy in 1930. Her sister, Nina (Ranieri) Harvey predeceased her in February 2001. Her sister Angelina Ranieri predeceased her in March 2019. She is survived by her brother Giacomo Ranieri, her niece Mary Leigh Harvey, her niece Laura (Harvey) Jaroszewski and her husband Bill, her nephew Robert Harvey and his family, Diane Harvey and their daughters, Julia and Emily Harvey. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 9–9:30am at the Neary Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South Street, Manasquan, NJ. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10am at St. Denis Church, 90 Union Ave., Manasquan, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery in Wall, NJ.
